Roshni Nair joined Habitat for Humanity Texas as a Data Analyst in September 2017 through Americorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America).
Roshni first volunteered with Habitat for Humanity during her winter break in 2014 through an alternative break service trip offered through George Washington University, Washington D.C. She spent two weeks in New Orleans focusing on interior work in the final steps of building a new house. She was drawn to the mission of Habitat for Humanity and understood the long-term recovery effects Hurricane Katrina had on the community. Most overwhelmingly she felt the fulfillment in seeing the progress her and her teammates were able to make in only a two-week period.
Upon completing her Masters in Political Management in 2017, Roshni admired the service of Americorps VISTA and returned to the mission of Habitat for Humanity. She feels passionate about the administrative work, the resources provided, and the advocacy for affordable housing policies the State Support Organization does to empower the affiliates and the communities they serve. In continuing her service with Habitat for Humanity, Roshni states “I am excited to work with an organization that goes beyond immediate relief and focuses on the hard work that is long term sustainable recovery and growth.”
