Capacity Build Grant for Women Homeowners

Training is designed to provide women homeowners in partner families with leadership skills and structure to affect positive change in their neighborhoods and communities. This six-part training series is designed to help women take ownership and to work effectively with neighbors and community leaders.

Course titles in the series include:

1 – Gaining Confidence through Strengthening Core Competencies

2 – Leadership Presentation Skills

3 – Effective Meetings with Neighbors, Community Leaders and Law Enforcement

4 – Collaborating for Neighborhood Improvement Results

5 – Facilitation Skills for Effective Neighborhood Meetings

6 – Project Management for Successful Neighborhood Transformation

Participate in virtual, train-the-trainer courses to become certified to deliver training to women homeowners.

These virtual courses are free! Certification sessions for September 2017 are listed below.

Certification is completed in two (2) sessions – courses 1 thru 3 and courses 4 thru 6.

Please select one date for Session 1 and one date for Session 2.
After registering you will receive a confirmation email containing telephone and computer information for joining the training.

Project Funding Support

Capacity Grant funding has been provided for Voice of Women. The grant provides up to $1,000 to support/seed a project led by women homeowners in partner families. HFH homeowners can complete multiple projects and receive up to $1,000 for each one. Detailed information will be provided during certification training.

About the Author: Amy Ledbetter Parham

With twenty years’ experience in construction, Texas government and nonprofit management, Amy Ledbetter Parham serves the 72 Habitat affiliates as Executive Director of Habitat Texas. Amy was a political campaign manager and a design professional for an architectural firm that specialized in public buildings and school districts. She has worked with more than 100 nonprofit organizations as a consultant in private practice, including Habitats, before coming to Habitat Texas. Amy holds a Master’s degree in Public Leadership from the LBJ School of Public Affairs and B.A. in Government from the University of Texas and a B.A. in Design from Texas State University – San Marcos.
