
Compliance Officer
Job Title: Compliance Officer
Reports to: Home & Land Development Manager Rate of Pay: $17/hr
Time Parameter:
- 40 hours per week required to work in the office Tuesday through Friday (at this time, subject to change)
- Work from home schedules available
Summary: Responsible for working with the Executive Director, Home & Land
Development Manager, and supporting staff to reach affiliate goals in Home Program and Home
Repair Program. The candidate must be a strong multi-tasker, have outstanding communication, interpersonal, and research skills, work well under limited supervision and be extremely organized. Prior experience in a nonprofit industry is preferred, but not required.
Areas of responsibilities:
- Welcome guests to public office by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, and answering or directing inquiries
- Assist in vetting all program applications by QLO standards and guidelines to prepare to present to the Home Program Team & Home Program Committee for home visit(s)
- Process non-cash donations according to policies and procedures.
- Assist with duties related to annual fundraising campaigns, direct mail-outs, and special events
- Work closely with Home Program Coordinator and Finance Manager to accurately process and assess all homeowner insurance, tax, and escrow needs in a timely manner
- Work closely with the Home Program team and Grants Task Force to complete grants such as Bootstrap and other homebuying process-related funds
- Manage and coordinate all Home Owners Association payments on behalf of Comal County Habitat for Humanity
- Assist Home Program Department in finding Gifts in Kind for services
- Assist with booths, community outreach events, and Homebuyer Presentations
- Attend meetings representing Home Program when needed
- Support Home Program team, including data collection and documentation of development notes
- Assist Home Program Department in working closely with Communications Team to recruit families to apply for the Home and Repair Program
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Executive Director
- Other various Home Program administrative support as needed
Program Coordination
- Stay up to date on Habitat for Humanity International Home Program standards and update Comal County Habitat for Humanity policies and procedures as needed
- Assist Home & Land Development Manager in reaching program Key Performance Indicators
- Provide reports of designated activities to Home & Land Development Manager
- Keep Home & Land Development Manager and/or Executive Director informed in an appropriate and timely manner in relation to operational and financial matters
Grants Task Force
- Research grant opportunities for the Home Program
- Write, apply, and follow up (complete any necessary reporting) for assigned grants
Required Skills and Experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word/Excel)
- Experience with home closings and loan documents a plus
- Strong research, written and verbal communication skills
- A second language is highly desirable, with the preferred language being Spanish
- Must be comfortable passing a Background Check and drug test
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Customer service attitude
- 1 year of administrative experience is preferred
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Strong understanding of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Solid application of interpersonal and communications skills, internally and externally, with groups and individuals.
- Must be willing to travel to offsite locations within Comal County
- Comfortable with public speaking opportunities and sharing Comal County Habitat for Humanity’s mission with small and large groups.
- Must be comfortable working with a diverse group of people of all ages and backgrounds.
