What Will You Learn?

  • A major part of Habitat’s operations is Homeowner Services. A successfully implemented Homeowner Services program sets your affiliate up for success for the entire length of the mortgage - 15, 20, or 30 years! For the long-term health of an affiliate, few areas have greater impact. Throughout this six-week program, participants will dive into the various area of homebuyer support and post-purchase services, starting with applications.  

Course Content

Welcome and Introduction to US Affiliate Safeguarding
We will get access to the most current information related to Safeguarding Policy #34. Learn the steps needed to ensure full compliance with the policy as well as available resources. All Habitat entities should be working towards safeguarding compliance. This workshop will get you started on understanding safeguarding as well as reinforce quality safeguarding practices across the affiliate and Habitat network.

Pre-Close: What to Expect
Throughout this session, you will learn about policy creation, homeowner selection process, preparing for the sale, initial disclosures, and more!

Finance Basics
During this session, Michele Burns will cover the following topics: Why is AML needed?, What documentation is needed for an application, How to process application, Credit Reports and Documenting Income, Why is QLO needed?, Privacy Issues, and Income Verification.

Post-Purchase Services
During this three hour session, you will discuss: Legal Issues, Privacy Issues, Homeowner Courses, Creating a realistic payment plan, Alternatives to foreclosure, and Processing hazard insurance claims.

Closing to Certificate of Homeowner Services
Our closing has practice sessions and outstanding questions.
