Faith Partnership Initiative
In July 2017, the Habitat Texas Board of Directors launched an initiative to strengthen our partnerships at the regional and state level with faith partners. Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian organization that seeks to partner with people of all faiths… and people of no faiths.
We are actively seeking partnerships with judicatory level groups. At the same time, we want to provide the resources local Habitat affiliates need to engage congregations in their community.
All major religions charge their parishioners to care for those less fortunate and to give voices to those who are seldom heard. With Habitat Texas’ work in advocacy, we invite people of faith to become partners in faith with us.
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Identify faith partners willing to pray with us that everyone has a safe, decent place to call home. Will you host a prayer breakfast with your local affiliate or will you volunteer at your local Habitat to plan for a prayer breakfast?
World Habitat Day is observed every year on the first Monday of October throughout the world. It was officially designated by the United Nations and first celebrated in 1986. The purpose of the day is to reflect on the state of our cities and towns and the basic human right to adequate shelter.
Do you have a leadership role in your denomination? If so, would you be willing to serve as an adviser and ambassador?
There are many ways to help: Donate, volunteer on the state level or with your local Habitat, join our Facebook community for statewide prayer events.
