This course delves into why committees are helpful or even vital for a healthy and successful Habitat affiliate. Most affiliates when they were young had at least five functioning committees that helped get the first families selected, money raised, volunteers recruited and the houses built. We will spend a time discussing how to get a committee started (or restarted), and how great committees can reduce staff workload. We cover board and non-board committees. We will look at agendas, mandates, communication, reporting and evaluation of their success and some best (and worst) practices.
