Programs and Services Developed for Texas Affiliates
One of things Habitat Texas’ does is resource development. Habitat Texas works to provide resources for affiliates through advocacy, funding, and capacity building opportunities, taking advantage of economies of scale. With our recent staff growth and the addition of an AmeriCorps VISTA program, we are able to offer more extensive services to our affiliate members.
Habitat Texas is proud to partner with AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) for 2017-2020. This national service program lets citizens make a full-time, one year commitment to alleviating poverty through the development of sustainable programs in local nonprofits. Participants receive a small living stipend and are eligible for an education award upon completion of their service year.
Being a VISTA host site allows Habitat Texas to greatly expand its ability to serve affiliates. We are actively recruiting members to serve onsite in our office and in affiliate offices across TX to assist with Veteran’s engagement, disaster services, communications, resource development, data analysis, and social media development.
As we implement the AmeriCorps VISTA program, we will continually reach out to affiliates to learn more about needed support services. If you want to host an AmeriCorps VISTA member at your affiliate, ask us how to become involved.

“What a great (Leader) retreat and fantastic learning! You (Amy Ledbetter Parham) have a great team assembled that seem to allow you time to strategize and use your visionary aptitude. Habitat Texas continues to grow by leaps and bounds and I appreciate your leadership in those efforts! So looking forward to the Lone Star Summit and 2019 Leader Retreat! Thanks for all you do!”
“I’ve participated in many strategic planning programs, this (led by Amy Ledbetter Parham) was one of the best.”
“It was great getting to connect with other Habitat Leaders and relax too.” (About the Leader Retreat 2017)
“The leader retreats are probably the most encouraging, inspirational events I have attended with Habitat. I learned that everyone pretty much felt like they were drinking out of a fire hose at first, and occasionally since then. This is the perfect event for new leaders, or for those who have been here a while but still have questions about best practices. And after all, who among us doesn’t.”
“Great webinar [International’s Required Training for MLOs]! It worked great! We are so blessed to have you and your team.”
